Specs 4 Us is an acronym for Superior Precision Eyewear for Children who are Special. It was founded in 2004 by a single mother named Maria Dellapina who served as an optician for many years. Maria’s youngest daughter, Erin, was born with Down Syndrome.
Maria quickly learned that the majority of Down Syndrome children need glasses by preschool, but their facial features make it difficult to find a frame that fits properly. Maria therefore decided to use her 30 years of experience as an optician to create a custom frame line called “Erin’s World” for children and adults like Erin.
Erin’s World frame line has a lower bridge than other eyeglasses to help accommodate a lower nose placement. The temples are tailored so the glasses do not slip down. These modifications also help patients’ eyes sit near the middle of the lenses instead of looking over the top. More information is available at http://www.specs4us.com/.
